Carrubba uses traditional cold-water methods of extraction to make its water-soluble extracts. This gentle and green technique may take a bit longer, but does not damage the plant constituents with heat. Our extracts are available in a variety of systems, the most popular being water/glycerin and water/propylene glycol. We manufacture botanical extracts to meet all major global standards and requirements. We also make oil soluble extracts. Here, we infuse the plant material in a solvent oil, most commonly sunflower oil. These extracts are best for use in anhydrous products such as lip care.
Certified Organic Botanical Extracts
Carrubba was the first U.S. botanical extract manufacturer in the personal care arena to gain organic ingredient certification from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Organic Program (USDA NOP) in 2003. This independently verified process-based management system provides consumer confidence and prohibits the use of GMO’s, radiation, synthetic pesticides and fertilizers. Not only is the plant grown to organic standards but the processing, production, and handling of the plant through the extraction process is also governed by the NOP.
